Jared Nanke

Jared Nanke is an American writer, designer, and visual artist, and the founder of Jared Nanke, Inc., a creative company working across fashion design, architecture, furniture design, and visual art. He came to the Catholic Church as an adult convert, and it was within that community — among the widowed, the quietly faithful, and the people who show up week after week carrying things no one else can see — that the world of In Ordinary Time began to take shape.

The Long Way East was conceived on a train. Jared and his wife, Meghan — a journalist and writer — were traveling to Cincinnati to plan their wedding when the image arrived: a priest on a train, always present for everyone around him, hiding the one thing he most needed someone else to carry. Meghan told him to start writing. He did.

She has been his most honest reader ever since.

What began as a novella has since been expanded upon, as Jared continued to write and revise the book into its now complete form — a full literary novel of roughly eighty thousand words. The Long Way East is the first work in In Ordinary Time, a developing series of interconnected literary works. Jared lives in Arizona.
